About Landlord Law Conference

Landlord Law is an annual event for landlords, letting agents, housing advisers & lawyers, and anyone working in the Private Rented Sector. 

Normally it is a traditional ‘face to face’ event which for 2020 we had planned to run at Dunston Hall just outside Norwich.

However, the Coronavirus has come upon us all like a thunderclap changing  everything we do.  But laws still apply and landlords, letting agents and their advisers still need to know what they are.

The Landlord Law Conference is an important training event – and we do not want to let people down.  Which is why we took the decision to take our conference online rather than just cancel it. 

Although you won’t get the networking benefits that most delegates enjoy so much with the ‘normal’ conference – you will still get a huge amount of value from the training.  And  5 hours CPD if you need it.

This is our eighth annual Landlord Law Conference – but the first one we have run online!

Talks are 45 minutes long - the speakers will talk for approx. 30 minutes with the final 15 minutes reserved for YOUR questions!
We also have some shorter presentations from our sponsors over the lunch time period.
All talks will be recorded so you can watch them later if you miss the live broadcast.

Note: all new legislation and case law will be covered - if necessary the program will be amended to include any new issues which might arise. So far as Coronavirus is concerned, all speakers will be considering its impact on their talk subject matter as part of their presentation.

As you will see we do not have a talk specifically on the new Electricity Regulations in our program (although this will be included in David Smiths ‘Year in Review’ talks).  However we will be having a training webinar for Landlord Law members on this with Independent Housing Expert Dave Princep on 23 April.

About the Online Event

A quick look at what will happen and how it will work

For our online ‘virtual conference’ we are using some special ‘online summit software’ called HeySummit. 

At the time of writing this, we are still setting this up, so all payments will be made via our normal online ‘shop’.  Everyone who books a place will then be imported into the online event nearer the time.

You will be able to watch as many or as few of the live presentations as you like.  All of the live presentations will be recorded so missing them will not be a big problem – as you will be able to watch them later as a ‘replay’.   The replays and the Conference site will remain online for all delegates to view until Friday 14 August.

You will also be able to put questions and have discussions with other delegates  in the discussion areas below the presentation videos.   

After the Conference is over we will draft up the CPD questions and put them online for those of you who need CPD.

Some Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why have you switched from a live event to a virtual online  event?

A: With the coronavirus emergency live events are clearly not going to be possible in mid May 2020.  Even if we defer the Conference to the autumn we could still be in lockdown at that time.

Many people rely on Landlord Law Conference to keep them up to date with the law and we did not want to let them down.  The Conference will also be a convenient way for anyone (including people who are ‘self isolating’) to get up to date with the law and experience an enjoyable (albeit virtual) event.

Q: In this time of crisis why are you not making this a free event?

A: We are a small business and could not afford to run this event on that basis.  We have staff and suppliers to pay  and need the income from the conference.  However we are willing to give discounts where appropriate.

Q: Do you give discounts to charities and ‘not for profit’ organisations?

A: Yes, please contact us if this applies to you.  

Q: Is there CPD?

A: Yes, you can claim 5 hours CPD – most organisations such as ARLA, the NLA and the SRA will accept attendance at our events against your CPD.  CPD will be earned by completing a multiple choice questionnaire and certificates can be downloaded if you answer 60% or more questions correctly.

Q: What are my cancellation rights?

A; You can cancel within 14 days of booking without penalty and receive a full refund. Subject to any statutory rights you may have, requests for cancellation and refunds made outside of this period will be given at our discretion and will normally be subject to an administration fee of not less than £15.

Requests for cancellation and refund should be made by the Green Button Support service or by sending an email to conference @ landlordlaw.co.uk.

No refunds will be paid during or after the event (even if you have not watched the presentations).

Q: What if I am unable to watch the presentations on 12 and 13 May?

A: All the presentations will be recorded and you will be given access to the ‘replays’ for three months, ie until midnight on Friday 14 August.

Q: What if I have technical problems accessing the online conference website?

A: The software that we are using is used all over the world and you should not experience any issues.  If you do, let us know and we will try to help.  Or if access proves impossible for you we will refund your fee.
