New info and FAQ on fire safety and fire doors

June 9, 2025

FireThe Grenfell Fire Inquiry, which I reported on here on the Landlord Law Blog, made 58 recommendations.  The government has promised to implement all of them.

A progress report, updated on 5 June, can be found here.

Most of the report concerns buildings which are over 11 metres.  However, the recommendations regarding fire doors (which include flat entrance doors) cover smaller buildings, where there are two or more domestic premises within them.

I have now therefore:

  • written a new FAQ on landlords’ legal obligations regarding fire doors
  • Added links to the relevant guidance pages to the lists on the Landlord Law Government Guidance page
  • Done amendments to the Checklists and the Property Inspection Kit to take into account the landlord’s obligations regarding fire doors.

If members have any further questions, they can put them on the members forum.
