Legal help, services and support for private residential landlords
Last week we made the first of our new Checklists live – the Property Checklist, looking at all the things that landlords need to do when preparing a property to let.
We have now made live our second checklist – the New Tenant Checklist.
This checklist is all about arguably the most important thing you will ever do when renting property – checking out and choosing your tenant.
The checklist starts by looking at some preliminary matters and then considers some of the different tenant types you may be renting to – such as limited companies, students and HMO tenants. With some comments on things you should take note of.
We then consider the documents you need to give to tenants at this stage and the actual checks you need to carry out. Such as
and so on.
The checklist finishes with a number of other things which you need to consider at this stage.
Hopefully, the Landlord Law New Tenant checklist will be useful for you and will serve as an aide memoir when you are looking to choose a new tenant for your property.
If there is anything we have missed out, please let us know either via the contact form or on the forum.
As usual, the Checklist is a members only product. If you are a logged in member you will find it here.
