Legal help, services and support for private residential landlords
We have run our solicitors’ telephone advice service for many years, and during all that time the fee has remained the same.
However, we decided to increase it after one of our panel solicitors told us that, bearing in mind their hourly rate, our fee actually only paid for about 12 minutes’ advice!
So that means that the advice fee has now gone up quite a bit –
However, the service is still very good value. All of our solicitors are specialist landlord and tenant solicitors, and the service is a way for you to quickly and easily book an advice call with someone reliable.Â
The fee paid to the solicitors is still less than most specialist solicitors’ hourly rates (the fee you pay includes a small admin fee for us). Bear in mind also that the solicitor’s time is not just the 30-minute call to you, but also reading the form and paperwork you send over and researching your case before the call takes place.
Getting proper legal advice is very important. It is going to become even more important with the Renters Rights Bill due to be made law in a few months’ time.
Failure to comply with the new rules will carry the risk of a Civil Penalty Notice being issued or your tenants may be entitled to make a claim for a Rent Repayment Order – which once the bill comes into force can be for up to 2 years worth of rent.
So having proper advice really is worth the money.
