Which Possession Proceedings?
Question:
Is the property a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO)?
An HMO is where three or more people who are not family members (or who do not form one ‘household’) share living accommodation.
However ‘households’ are solely defined as being family members (which includes half-blood, step or adopted family and couples living together including same-sex couples) or family members with a live-in employee such as an au pair or carer. Its got nothing to do with living arrangements such as whether they eat together ‘as a family’ or the type of tenancy agreement they sign.
Members should click here for more guidance on HMOs.
Then click yes if the property is an HMO or no if it is not.
