Which possession proceedings?

Do you require possession of the property for some other reason – for example, for redevelopment?

Answer:

The Welsh legislation provides for possession to be claimed under what they call ‘Estate Management Grounds’.

These include requiring the property for redevelopment where this cannot be done without first obtaining possession.  There are various other grounds, some of which are only available to charities, housing associations and trusts).  Note that you will normally be required to provide alternative accommodation and pay the contract holders reasonable moving expenses.

These grounds are all discretionary so if you think that they apply to you, you should always obtain legal advice before doing anything and we would strongly advise you to use solicitors experienced in this work to act for you.
