Consumer Law (Virtual) Workshop 2023

A one day workshop with solicitor David Smith on 15 June 2023

"Consumer Law?" you may say. "Whats that got to do with me?"

Answer - "a lot! And it could cost dear you if you get things wrong!"

With all the landlord regulations around, people tend to forget about consumer laws – many of which apply to landlords and letting agents.  In fact, it is dangerous (and could prove very expensive) to ignore them.

This course is suitable for:

  • Letting agents,
  • Landlords
  • Local authority private sector housing staff, and
  • Advisors (including lawyers)

This is an online only event

Thursday 15 June 2023

Cost is £180 (£150 + VAT)

Discounts for Landlord Law members – see below.

Or find out more below:

This event is brought to you by Landlord Law, in association with the NRLA

Very informative! A lot to take in BUT knowledge passed on in an interesting & uncomplicated way.

  • The concept of ‘Fairness’ under the regs
  • The unfair terms rules (which apply to tenancy agreements/Welsh occupation contracts and most letting agent contracts)
  • Company obligations (particularly relevant for landlords and agents trading through a company) and signature of documents
  • Money laundering issues
  • On and off-site sales (eg re letting agents – of interest also to landlords who use agents!)
  • Advertising rules
  • Rules re agents fees, and client money protection
  • Tenants’ rights to end contracts, eg unwinding
  • Welsh consumer rights
  • Enforcement and claims that can be made

Note that topics may not necessarily be covered in this order.  We also reserve the right to amend the topics covered to reflect any new issues that may  arise.
