The Tenancy Trail has been updated to cover Welsh lettings

August 31, 2023

tenancy trailThe tenancy trail is one of the oldest parts of the site.  I can remember creating it back in 2001 before the original site launched.

It is basically a guide to help you work out what sort of tenancy or occupation type you  have.

It is particularly useful for advisers, but we recommend that all landlords follow it, particularly before serving any possession notice, just to check.  As the possession procedure and notices vary according to the tenancy or occupation type.

All change in 2022

Then in December 2022 the law changed in Wales – where we no longer have assured shorthold tenancies!

There was so much to do at that time in developing the Welsh content, that I just put a message up saying that the tenancy trail was for England only.

The project to update the trails was on hold.

The tenancy trail updated

However I woke up this morning thinking, “I really must update those trails” and so today the first of the trails has been updated.

So the first page is the same.  You then come to a page where you have to select whether your property is in England or Wales – and if you select Wales you travel on the new part of the trail.

The English part is the same as before.

You can always tell which part of the trail you are in as we have the little English or Welsh flags as appropriate at the top of the pages.

I hope (if you are in Wales) the new part of the trail will be useful for you.
