Free landlord training: the updated Landlord Law Essentials e-course

February 2, 2026

Landlord Law EssentialsOver the years, I have done many courses for landlords and agents.

One of the most popular has been my Landlord Law Essentials course, which has appeared in many formats,

  • on my blog,
  • on older iterations of Landlord Law, and more recently
  • as an ebook.

I have now taken this course and substantially updated it.

About the course

It is still in 12 parts, but the parts have been made longer.  Two have been amalgamated to make room for a new part on ‘protecting your position’.  Essential in view of the likley increased enforcement action.

The course still sets out the things that landlords need to know.  Making it an essential read for new landlords.

However, I have also explained the new Renters Rights Act 2025 changes, making it a very helpful read for more experienced landlords too.

The 12 parts are:

  • Landlord Responsibilities
  • Legal background
  • Letting agents
  • Choosing & checking tenants
  • Tenancy agreements
  • Tenancy Deposits
  • Rent
  • The Property Condition
  • Shared properties and HMOs
  • Protecting your position
  • Summary and checklist

Its a written course.

I prefer these to videos.

Written courses are easier for users to search for specific points without having to re-watch the whole video, and

They are considerably easier for me to amend and update!

I know video training is popular, but our surveys have consistently shown that Landlord Law members tend to prefer written content.

Anyway, the course is now online and free to all users.

How to get it!

  • Landlord Law members get access to the index – which is only visible to  members and is also on this page.
  • Non-members will need to sign up after which they will get immediate access to Part 1, and then email access to the different parts every 2 days.
