Tessa Shepperson, the owner and creator of Landlord Law, is a solicitor and published author.  She specialises in residential landlord and tenant law.

Tessa is best known for her Landlord Law Blog (which she has been writing since 2006) and Landlord Law, her online service for Landlords, which has been online since 2001.

Tessa’s expertise

Tessa can help if you need someone for general tenancy matters, and landlords’ and tenants’ legal rights and responsibilities, including tenancy agreements, HMOs, eviction and tenancy deposit issues.  She can also provide explanations and comment on new legislation.

However, Tessa does not cover conveyancing or financial matters (such as mortgages).  Neither does she cover long leases or general property law matters (other than in general terms).

How Tessa can help

Subject to availability, Tessa is happy to talk to researchers, and take part in programs.  She is based in Norwich, Norfolk, within walking distance of the BBC East Norwich studios in the Forum.

Tessa is also available for regular written contributions on landlord and tenant law issues, the private rented sector, and related housing issues.  For example, for opinion pieces and practical advice columns. Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss a regular column or a one-off feature.

Media experience

Tessa has in the past appeared on BBC TV News commenting on landlord & tenant related news items.   Radio appearances include Radio 4 Moneybox, Legal Hour on LBT, Radio Five Live, Radio Norfolk and several other local radio programs speaking on landlord and tenant issues, as well as general interest programs (for example Radio Norfolk ladies at lunch).

She has also featured in many newspapers and magazines such as The Times, the Daily Mail and the Eastern Daily Press.

She currently writes a regular column for Property Investor News magazine and Your Property Network Magazine.
